Our next meeting

Just as a last minute reminder we will be having a meeting in Fort
Collins February 11th (tomorrow) that will focus on photographing
machinery, hosted by Jim Cambon, who has been a Product Photographer
since the mid 70's.
The meeting will be in Fort Collins at 216 Racquette Drive near the
Fort Collins Airport. Exit I-25 at the Ault/Fort Collins exit #269
heading West on highway 14 and proceed towards Fort Collins. Take the
second traffic light north onto Summit View Dr. and then the first left
westward. This is East Lincoln Avenue. At the fifth right turn onto
Airpark Dr. and go one block to a left at Heath Parkway. After one block
Racquette Drive veers to the Right. Take it for one block to Cambon
Studio on the right. Park on the east side of the building and enter by
the main door on the south.
There will be plenty of room to display your models and Jim may be
persuaded to turn on some of his extensive collection of lights for the
benefit of amateur camera bugs. Bring your favorite model and camera!
Also if you have a photographic project to share with the group then you
should bring it along!
To learn more about Jim Cambon Studios go to his web site at
<http://www.cambon.com>. He does industrial and commercial photography
for catalogs, packaging and the like. Automotive photography has been
something of a hobby of his. He is quite experienced in the photography
of machinery and hardware. Jim will discuss the unique issues involved
in photographing machinery and try to answer your questions!
The Hideout, a restaurant at 1903 Lincoln, is only a few blocks
from the studio. Lunching there at 12:00 and then meeting at the studio
at 1:00 should be an easy schedule to make. Please contact me with any
questions you might have.
A member, John Cady, has kindly donated a nearly unused 1 1/2 HP
rotary three phase converter to the club. This will be checked out,
cleaned and refurbished a/r, and then will be auctioned on line to the
membership with the proceeds going into the club treasury. This should
happen in the next 30 days. If interested let me know and I will ensure
that you get notified. Bill in Boulder

First let me wish everyone a Happy New Year! I hope that it finds
our membership hale and hearty! I will be trying to arrange at least six
meetings this year with varied subjects and locations hoping to provide
meetings that cater to everyones interest and geography! So for the
benefit of our northern membership we will be having a meeting in Fort
Collins February 11th that will focus on the photographing of machinery,

It was noted at our last meeting that the CMES web site had gone
dead. I frankly had not noticed that it had. What level of interest in
it exists? While I had looked at it I had not posted to it recently or
used it in any other way in the last few years. If interest exists then
I will try to revitalize it. Otherwise I will continue to communicate
(primarily) by E-mail and not worry about it. Frankly running such a
site exceeds my capabilities and I do not know of anyone offhand that
might want to take on it's management!

I got the following from the local chapter of the Society of
Manufacturing Engineers regarding their next meeting. If interested you
might contact them about attending the meeting:

January Plant Tour

Precision Pipe & Vessel, LLC
January 17, 2012

Precision Pipe & Vessel is an SME member’s (pipe) dream. Precision Pipe
is a welding and ASME qualified vessel fabricator. Precision, located
in north Denver, has been in business over thirty years and has a long
track record of supplying high quality gas processing equipment to its
customers. They are not running a second shift at this time and for
safety reasons, that’s not such a bad thing, with all the welding and
grinding that normally goes on there. If you want more information to
convince yourself that this is a “can’t miss” tour, look at their web
site at http://precision-pipe.com/HOME.html . To reserve a spot contact
Chuck Otoupalik at reservations@sme354.org. Hope to see you there!
